Curly hair gets cut, coloured, and treated differently to straight hair. We see a lot of curly hair clients in Chiswick, and the most common feedback is the same: previous salons have either tried to thin it out, blow it straight, or treat it like a problem to solve.
How we approach curly hair
- Cut for curl pattern. We cut curls to fall the way they actually grow, not how they sit when blown straight.
- Hydration first. Most curly hair is under-conditioned. We build a treatment plan around your wash routine.
- Honest product advice. If a £40 leave-in is overkill for your hair, we will say so. If you need a heavier cream, we will tell you why.
- No fighting the curl. A good curly cut should feel lighter, not heavier, and should look good on day one of a wash, day three, and day five.
Treatments that help curly hair
- Olaplex - £50 standalone, £35 as a colour add-on. Repairs broken bonds inside the hair, especially useful if curls have been heat-styled or chemically straightened in the past.
- Filler 123 Intense Moisture Treatment - £45. Heavy hydration, ideal for thick curly hair that drinks moisture.
- Nashi Filler Express - £25. Quick conditioning add-on at the basin.
- Deep Infusion - £15. Entry-level treatment, good for first-time clients.
Caring for curly hair between visits
- Wash less often. Most curly hair is healthier on 2-3 washes per week, not daily.
- Co-wash or use a sulphate-free shampoo.
- Apply leave-in conditioner to soaking-wet hair, not damp.
- Define curls with cream or gel while still wet, then leave alone until completely dry.
- Sleep on silk or use a silk bonnet.
- Refresh day-2 hair with water and a small amount of leave-in, do not re-wash.
