Balayage is a freehand colour technique. The lightener is hand-painted onto the surface of the hair instead of foiled or capped, which gives a soft, blended grow-out. Done well, it can sit in the hair for 3-4 months without hard regrowth lines.

What balayage suits
- Hair that is mid-length to long.
- Clients who want low maintenance and infrequent salon visits.
- Bases ranging from natural blonde through to mid brown. Very dark bases need a longer plan.
- Hair in good condition. If hair is heavily compromised, we will recommend a treatment course first.
What balayage does not suit
- Pixie cuts and very short hair (the technique needs length to graduate).
- Anyone wanting a sharp, uniform "highlights" finish - go for foil highlights instead.
- Hair with significant box-dye build-up that has not been corrected.
How long balayage lasts
The colour itself is permanent, the question is when it stops looking polished. As a guide:
- 3-4 months for most clients. The grow-out is soft, so most people only need a refresh, toner, and trim.
- 5-6 months if you started subtle and are happy to let it grow naturally for longer.
- Add Olaplex if you book balayage every visit, it makes a noticeable difference long-term.
Skin test policy
For any colour or chemical service, we require a skin (patch) test 48 hours before your appointment. This is mandatory for all new clients. It takes two minutes and protects you against allergic reactions. Book the patch test when you book the service, or call us on 0208 994 8008.
