The best balayage is the one that looks soft on day one and still looks deliberate four months later. The technique is freehand, the planning is everything, and the £55 difference between an average balayage and a great one is rarely about the salon - it is about the hands.
What makes a great balayage
- Placement. Lightener applied where the sun would naturally lift hair, not in stripes or panels.
- Saturation. Enough product on each section to lift cleanly, not so much that it bleeds into the surrounding hair.
- Tone. A toner finish to neutralise unwanted warmth or coolness on the day.
- Bond protection. Olaplex add-on (£35) for any balayage. Non-negotiable on previously coloured hair.
- Aftercare advice. A clear schedule for refresh, toner top-ups, and treatments.

- Will you do a free consultation first?
- How many balayage clients do you see in an average week?
- How do you handle the grow-out at the four-month mark?
- Do you include Olaplex, and what does it cost as an add-on?
- What is the realistic timeline if my base is dark or previously coloured?

Skin test policy
For any colour or chemical service, we require a skin (patch) test 48 hours before your appointment. This is mandatory for all new clients. It takes two minutes and protects you against allergic reactions. Book the patch test when you book the service, or call us on 0208 994 8008.
